Q&A with Mandy

The Maldives is one of our most popular destinations. Between the team here at Nesoi we have visited over 25 islands. Mandy is one of our Maldives experts, we done a small Q&A with some frequently asked questions.

Q1. How many times have you been to the Maldives?

I have been to the Maldives 10 times and within that time I have visited 18 Islands.

Q2. What is your favourite island and why?

This is a hard one, for couples my favourite hands down would be Milaidhoo, I went last year and had the most amazing experience, but a firm favourite of mine would be Kuramathi, this is where I spend Christmas, and have spent most of my time in the Maldives here, earning the nickname Kuramathi Queen.

Q3. When is the best time to visit the Maldives?

November through to April is the best time, but I have been at all different times through the year, sometimes you may get more rain out of season, but the temperature generally stays the same all year round.

Q4. Where is best for diving?

In my personal experience I have found diving in the North Ari Atol and Baa Atol to be amazing, but to be honest diving in the Maldives in any Atol is fantastic it really depends on what you really want to see.

Q5. Where is best for families?

My first choice would be Kuramathi as the kids club is excellent, the choice of restaurants is great so there is always something for the Children to eat. I would also recommend the Lux South Ari.

Q6. Is it better to do All Inclusive?

This is a hard one, the Maldives is very expensive, so again in my experience I would only do all inclusive as everything you buy or do in the Maldives you will have a 25% tax to go onto your final bill,  this is a local and Island Tax.

Q7. How do you get there?

From the end of October to late March you can fly direct with British Airways. The other options that you can travel with are Emirates, Sri Lankan Airlines, Etihad and Qatar. Qatar being my favourite.  Once you arrive into Male depending on your chosen Island, you will get there by either boat or seaplane.

Q8. What is the best island for honeymooners?

Milaidhoo would be amazing, but every Island offers something different, so it really depends on what you want for your Honeymoon, some prefer a large island with lots going on, other prefer and Island that is very quiet and small.

Q9. What is your most unique Maldivian experience?

Has to be in the middle of the Indian Ocean then a squadron of Manta appeared directly under us, there was only 3 of us in the Ocean and the time and it was absolutely magical, they are such gentle magnificent creatures.

Q10. What sort of activities should you expect on a Maldivian island?

Each Island will have something different to offer, but you can always expect amazing diving, fantastic food and service, first class spa’s I really do think it is the most prefect destination.
