Private Tour of Tanzania

November to June: Annual Wildebeest Migration, which circles the Serengeti.

Warm all year round, with two rainy seasons, short rains are between November and December, long rains are from April to May, January is hot and dry, June – October warm and dry with cooler evenings.

Day 1 – Arusha

Depart the UK on an overnight flight into Arusha via Nairobi. On arrival you will have a transfer to the Arusha Coffee Lodge with time to relax after the flight and enjoy a lovely evening meal. 

Day 2 – Lake Manyara

After breakfast you will have a private transfer to Lake Manyara and you will drive through African villages, coffee and banana plantations.

This small but scenic national park is richly populated, home to lions, herds of elephants, baboons, hippo and clouds of pink flamingo.

 

Day 3 – Lake Manyara to Ngorongoro Crater

You will set off for a morning game drive around the shores of Lake Manyara before setting off for the Ngorongoro Crater. The journey can take a few hours so a lunch stop is highly recommended. After lunch you will have the chance to visit the Iraqw Tribespeople to learn their culture and maybe join them for a spot of dancing. You will then be taken to your Ngorongoro Crater hotel for your 2 night stay. 

 

Day 4 – Ngorongoro Crater

You will have an early start to your day as you will be spending a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater. You will travel 600 meters down the rim of the crater to discover landscapes, open grassland and hopefully spot a large number of wildlife. The crater is home to the densest concentration of wildlife, you will also enjoy a picnic lunch. At the end of the day you will be taken back to your hotel. 

 

Day 5 – Ngorongoro to Serengeti

Transfer from Ngorongoro Crater to the Central Serengeti. Here you will visit Olduvai Gorge, a steep sided ravine that is one of the worlds richest archaeological and paleontological sites. Once you enter into the Serengeti National Park you will get the chance to spot the Big Five. You will then be transferred to your chosen hotel for 1 night. 

 

Day 6-7 – Serengeti 

You will have the chance to do an early morning balloon flight over the Serengeti with amazing views of the vast open plains. You will enjoy game drives again looking out for the Big 5 and various other animals. You will then be transferred to your hotel in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti for 2 nights. 

 

Day 8 – Serengeti to Arusha

You will set off to Grumeti Airstrip where a light aircraft will take you to Arusha. You will then be taken to lunch before being transferred to the airport for your onward flight home.
